We see Glastonbury Tor up close, from a point at its foot on a short path already rising towards St Michael’s Tower. The light breaks through a grey stormy sky, smoothing the contours of the iconic hill. It will be an easy climb.

Professional memberships

Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP)

The CIEP is a UK-based professional membership association with members in more than 50 countries. All members are bound by its Professional Practice Code.

As an Advanced Professional Member (APM) of the CIEP, I’ve proven the highest levels of skill and expertise, experience and training, and customer satisfaction. I’ve been an APM since 2011.

The Society for Diversity

The Society for Diversity is a US-based professional association of individual and corporate members active in the field. It also delivers certification programmes through its training arm, the Institute of Diversity Certification (IDC).

As a Society member, I’m part of a motivated community continuously defining and refining EDI best practices.

ACES: the society for editing

ACES is a membership association for editing professionals based in the United States. It delivers valuable learning content and community to editors across North America and beyond.

In combination with membership of the CIEP, this roots me within communities of practice that are increasingly exploring the part they have to play in dismantling linguistic discrimination.

Federation for Small Businesses (FSB)

The FSB is a voice for small business owners and the self-employed in the UK. It delivers advice, support and community to its members, and influences government policy on their behalf.

As a member of the FSB, I can draw on a wide range of tools, including skills, knowledge and legal hubs, positioning my work with words securely in the real world of business concerns.
